"Cedars"- corten steel and cedar logs

3/13/2016

Picture
"Cedars" 7'x3'x2'- corten steel and cedar logs

The sculpture has been transformed from it's previous incarnation. The corten has been etched and started to develop it's patina. The logs have been ebonized to take on an aged appearance. Corten is a weathering steel that will develop a rich patina over time. Unlike regular steel, the rust creates a protective layer for the steel underneath ensuring it's longevity.

Installation of  "River & Moon" - A Bronze, glass kinetic, sculpture in Twickenham, Oregon

2/28/2016

Picture
"River & Moon" - A Bronze, glass kinetic, sculpture  was inspired by the landscape of Twickenham, Central Oregon.

The John Day river, rim rock formations and the rising moon are elements that are incorporated into this piece.

The  bronze sculpture was commissioned by a Seattle couple with a ranch overlooking the valley and the John Day river, the sculpture is the centerpiece for the entryway.  The natural look of bronze combined with the water quality of the glass really ties into the natural beauty of the area.

Local Developer Commissioned Breeze-way Pass Through with an Homage to Mercedes Benz

2/21/2016

Picture
AvalonBay Communities transformed  the old Phil Smart Mercedes Benz dealership on 600 E Pike St. into a  seven-story multi-family/retail project. As part of the project AvalonBay preserved portions of the old dealership and commissioned local artist Troy Pillow to design a breeze-way pass through with an homage to Mercedes Benz.

Troy created a grid system backed by perforated sheet in which iconic Mercedes Benz parts were attached.

For over a decade, I have been creating unique sculptures that capture attention and engage the imagination through simple design and kinetic movement.

My sculptures interpret nature's genius, a balance of complex function and simplistic beauty.
